为什么达赖喇嘛声称西藏不寻求从中国独立，而是希望留在中国？（其二）

是的，而且他已经说了好几次。

像这些：

他强调西藏人希望留在中国。

“我们不寻求独立……我们希望留在中国。”

“我们想要更多发展。”（噢兄弟，中国在这方面是超级英雄）

达赖喇嘛还说中国必须尊重西藏人的文化和传统（再次谴责中国？）

就连飞机场在如此多的藏族符号象征下，看起来都十分“民族文化”。

为什么他要说这些？

1、“自由西藏”是不可能的。英国和美国开空头支票支持他们独立，但此前已背叛了西藏人。

2、三代人的时间让谋求独立的西藏人比率骤减。数十年前可能达到20%，但现在要少得多。

3、西藏的GDP是净负值，而中国进行了大量投资。

4、西藏被陆地包围，环境严酷，可能比不丹和尼泊尔还穷。实际上，许多西藏人都住在西藏以外，分散在其他省份。

比较

西藏的人均GDP是流亡印度者的4倍。印度的生活对身份错置第二代人来说非常艰苦。人口降低了44%，仅剩85000人。

留在中国的西藏人看到了各种参数上发生的进步：包括更好的教育、健保、识字率、预期寿命、幼儿死亡率和其他广泛发展，人口也大幅增长。

所以为什么还有人喋喋不休地说“自由西藏”的空想谬论？西藏四面环陆，甚至穷过不丹，而它跟着中国获益良多。

如果你认为印度人很穷，那么根据报道，在那里的流亡藏人情况更糟。

所以达赖喇嘛接受了明智而明显的——不要独立，“西藏留在中国更好”。

那么关于文化呢？

他亲爱的神圣性根本不必担心，中国会好好照料的。

数以万计的人会坐在这样的火车里去西藏见证传统的延续。

充足的西藏传统。学校里理所当然地教授藏语，汉族小孩也学它。（就像新疆也教6种少数民族语言。）

所以，没必要谈传统。

为什么单独提西藏？中国有55个少数民族，它们在被中国人统治一两千年后，仍各自保留着传统。

与其担心中共，不如想想另一点——现代性。

即便汉族也正在过快的现代化。

而且，有些趋势相当不好——传统价值的崩坏，不健康的社会趋势和时尚，个人主义和享乐主义抬头，过度游戏甚至女性化。

如果西藏人都感染了上述的“现代”病毒，喇嘛们一定会皱起眉头，如果西藏人变得娇生惯养，他们还能不能好好跪拜？除了神权政治、精英主义、封建主义、农奴制度、宿命论和极端的宗教虔诚，西藏社会还会不会失去更多？

与他的全球声望相反，达赖喇嘛如今在西藏的最终方程式里似乎不必要，或者不相干。

西藏的福利和发展是好的。

下一个亮点在于中国怎样选择十五世达赖，以及十四世达赖会不会像他在2008年做过的那样，搅起一盆狗屎。

显然美国会带着他的西藏牌不请自来。印度又会不会呢？

YES, he said that a few times already.

Here!

He stressed that Tibetans wanted to stay with China.

"We are not seeking independence... We want to stay with China.

We want more development. (oh boy, China is super hero in this)

The Dalai Lama said China must respect Tibetans' culture and heritage. (accusing China again??)

Even the airport look so ‘cultural’ with plenty of Tibetan symbolism.

Why?
1.‘Free Tibet’ is impossible. UK and USA gave lip service to support their independence, but betrayed the Tibetans before.

2.Percentage of Tibetans who wants independence has plummeted after 3 generations. Perhaps 20 % plus decades ago, but far lower today.

3.Tibet GDP is net negative, and China pumps in money.

4.A harsh landlocked land, which could be poorer than Bhutan and Nepal. Actually more Tibetans live outside Tibet scattered across a few provinces.

Compare

GDP per cap is 4x more than the exiles in India. Life is hard in India as 2nd class misplaced people. Pop dropped 44% with only 85,000 left.

Tibetans in China see improvement in all parameters including higher education, healthcare, literacy, life expectancy, child mortality, extensive development, etc, and a big jump in pop.

So why do some still harp on the romantic fallacy of ‘Free Tibet’? Tibet is landlocked and could be poorer than Bhutan, and it benefits from being with China.

If you think Indians are poor, the Tibetans there are reported to be worst off.

“It is very difficult to make money here. There are barely any jobs here,” Tenzing says in India. So Tibetans, some stateless, know life is better up north.

So the Dalai Lama DL accepted the wise and obvious - No independence, “Tibet is better with China”.

As for the culture?

His dear holiness needn’t worry; China will take care of that.

Millions may run to Tibet in trains like this to witness that tradition persists.

Plenty of Tibetan tradition.

even Tibetan is of course taught in school and Han kids learn that too. (Likewise 6 minority languages are taught in Xinjiang).

So, No issues with tradition.

Why is Tibet singled out? China has 55 minority ethnic groups, each with its own tradition after being under Chinese rule for 1 to 2 thousand years.

Don’t fret over CPC, worry about another - modernity.

Even the Hans are getting modernised too fast.

And some trends not so good - breakdown of traditional values, unhealthy social trends & fads, rise of individualism & hedonism, gaming and even effeminism.

The Lamas may frown if Tibetans gets the ‘modern’ viruses like above, for once too pampered, how can they prostrate well enough? Would Tibet society lose more than the theocracy, elitism, feudalism, serfdom, fatalism and extreme religious devoutness?

Far from his peak in global fame, he is now redundant or irrelevant in the final equation over Tibet.

Tibet’s well being or development is fine.

The next spark is China’s choice of the 15th DL and whether the 14th will stir a pot of holy shit, as he did in 2008.

And the USA will gatecrash with its Tibet card for sure, once again. India, you too?
